Abstract

            High heels have been around for many centuries. First documented in Ancient Egyptian murals in 3500 B.C., heels have been worn to denote power and status from the very beginning. While many people believe heels are solely for women, men have been known to wear heels quite often throughout the centuries. Heels have been worn for numerous reasons, such as practical purposes, theater, street walking, and for art. Cultures around the world have used high heels for function, status, social class, fashion, and power.
